Vivác Winery - A New Mexico Discovery
Wednesday, October 07, 2009 - Vivác Winery is the creation of brothers Jesse and Chris Padberg.
Recently, I attended the Santa Fe Wine & Chili Festival and decided to visit wineries up north near Taos. That's right, there's some great wines coming out of New Mexico. One of my favorite wineries visited was Vivac, a family run winery in Dixon, NM. The lovely Michelle Padberg, marketing representative spent time with me tasting their delightful wines, and I got a chance to meet the brothers Padberg, Chris & Jessee. By the way, don't forget to try Liliana's wonderful chocolate truffles in the tasting room. My favorite wines were their Italian styles: 2008 Dolcetto 2006 Nebbiolo V. Series 2006 Refosco 2007 Sangiovese Lastly a limited gem--Dolcetto Rose was a pleasant surprise. I'll try and post a photo of Jesse holding a bottle later. The next time you're in the Santa Fe or Taos area, do stop by and pay a visit to the Padberg's you won't regret it! They're doing some interesting things with wine. www.vivacwinery.com
